On Green Rain

I recently bought Stardew Valley and began to play it for the first time. 10/10 would recommend. As a game it can be many things: it can be cute farming/dating sim, it can be cute monster hunting in the mines, it can be cute eldritch horror populated by shadows and monsters and a naive populace who must be kept safe from the horrors lest it drive them all mad.

Yes you heard that right.

I've started a new series over on AO3, writing it concurrently with the dragon age worldstate. I had to as I scratched the veneer off to find that eldritch horror and suddenly found I had a hundred hour save file in under a month.

Now... I bought Stardew Valley after the version 1.6 update. My very first playthrough had this curious event where the townsfolk huddled in the bar and hid from the terrifying strangeness outside. The local scientist stood around in a full isolation suit taking samples. Meanwhile my dumb ass is running around because I don't know any better. Is this something I'm supposed to be afraid of?
